- The board created a mission statement, and a logo, and started Facebook and Instagram pages to share our news and celebrate pickleball in the region. Working with Truckee pickleball player, Parsha Pourkhomami, it developed this website.
- Working together, and with the help of Truckee pickleball player Kevin Neiland, the board and district submitted grant requests to the Truckee Rotary Club, the Truckee Tahoe Airport District, and the Martis Camp Foundation. The board is actively looking for additional grants.
- The board is working to hire a landscape architect who will design the courts, walkways, and benches and will manage the grading and construction permit with the Town of Truckee. We plan to apply for permits this fall. If we get permits by the spring, and if we have a successful fundraising campaign, we will proceed as quickly as possible with grading and construction.
- Our fundraising target is $600,000. That is the rough estimate of what it will cost to build the courts. If after putting the project out to bid, the project costs more than these early estimates, the board will continue the fundraising campaign. The board would also consider breaking the construction project into phases, building a few courts at a time.
- Working with Alpine Meadows pickleball player and retired professional surveyor, James Kiehl, the board surveyed the land at the River View Park in preparation for architect drawings and permit applications. With a permit to build, work can begin on grading the land and requesting construction bids.
- On July 28, the District voted to give half its 2023 discretionary budget - $50,0000 – toward building the complex.
- The all-volunteer Board consists of President Fred Safipour, Vice President Will Mendoza, Membership Director Don Beaty, Secretary/Treasurer Doug Rinella, and Communications Director Susan Safipour.
- The TTPC's mission is to grow the great sport of pickleball - for all ages and abilities - in the Truckee Tahoe region by bringing the community together, building courts, hosting socials, offering clinics, and sponsoring tournaments.
